Assignment 5/29

Cozi-Live Binder-All classes-All teachers-Cozi is an amazing tool for homework assignments. The calender can keep you up to date on homework assignments and tests.  Since there is the mobile app, you wont have to write down homework or tests on your planners any more. Also, the simplicity of the tool makes it fun. Anyone who isn't good with electronics can easily work the site. My mom is horrible with any types of electronics and she was able to work the site with ease. You could also send messages to other people and write on the to do list so everyone could see it. Since almost all of my binders are a mess, I could easily find what I'm looking for on the journal, where people can write notes from the lesson, chapter, or notes for the final exam. Cozi is a phenomenal site that could be used for a class or a family.

Baby's Life Saved By World's Smallest Artificial Heart

A Baby's Life Saved By the World's Smallest Artificial Heart
In March, Italian doctors were faced with a baby who would not live unless a real heart was ready for transplant.  The doctors decided to give the baby a transplant once it was born. When it was born, they successfully gave the baby the world's smallest artificial heart.  The device is a titanium pump weighing only 11 grams and that can endure a flow of up to 1.5 litres per minute. A few days later after the artificial heart was put in, a real donor heart was available, and now the baby is fine. This shows how much we've advanced in medical technology.

Parakeet Found Its Way Home by Telling the Police Its Home Address
In Yokohama, Japan, a bird found its way home. I didn't find its way home in a normal way though. It got home by telling the police its home address. This bird's name is Piko-chan, and it accidentally left its house on Sunday morning in the Sagamihara district of Yokohama, Japan.  The owner was prepared and trained her parakeet to say its address if it ever got lost.  The bird found a refuge at a hotel.  The next day, the bird was handed to the police for a few days until it perked up and started saying its home address. The police brought the bird to the address it was saying and found out that the bird did belong to the person who lived there. I would never have the patience to teach a bird how to say my address, which is actually a smart thing to do.

A Man With No Arms or Legs Can swim around the world
Philippe Croizon lost his arms and legs in a terrible accident 18 years ago. Since then, he has trained to become a world class athlete. This summer, the Frenchman is going to swim between every continent in the world. This isn't the first time Croizon has attempted to swim a huge distance. In 2010, at age 42, he swam the 21 miles across the English Channel in just 13 hours. Croizon's swim starts in May. He'll swim from Indonesia to Papua New Guinea. Then he'll swim across the Red Sea between Jordan and Egypt, and the Strait of Gibraltar between Africa and Europe. The final swim is a swim across the Bering Strait between America and Asia in August. This man can truly defy what handicapped people can do.

India Just Successfully Test Launched a Missile That Could Blow Up China

Yesterday, India successfully tested the Agni-V, a long-range missile capable of carrying a nuclear warhead.  The missile has a range of over 3,000 miles and could reach Beijing or Shanghai, China. The Agni-V is 51 feet long, weighs nearly 50 tons, can reach an altitude of 430 miles, and cost around $480 million to develop.  To me this could be a dangerous weapon used against China and even the United States.

Guns Can Make You Look Two Inches Taller
Dr. Daniel Fessler and a team from UCLA published what they found in the journal Public Library of Science. Then they conducted an experiment to see if the perceptions of size depended on what they were holding. Dr. Fessler had 628 volunteers to see if they looked bigger with guns. To test this, the people held many tools, and the hands almost identical. They held a handgun, drill, a calking gun, and and a handsaw. The people that held a handgun were slightly bigger that those that held other tools. This proves that people can be slightly taller when holding a gun.

My Spring Break

I did not do much on my spring break. I played manhunt almost every night, and on Friday I went to the New York International Auto Show. Click here for the New York International Auto Show website. My cousin came over for the last weekend of Spring Break and stayed over for Easter. We played NBA 2K12 and basketball, and I went to Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey, with Stephen on Monday and most of the rides were closed because of the high winds. Overall my Spring Break   was average.

iPad 3 Everything We Think We Know

Its that time of year when people expect another iPad to be put on the market.  One of the most anticipated changes in the iPad is the pixel density.  Even though the screen size is the same as the iPad and the iPad 2, but there will be double the resolution and pixels a quarter size of the iPad 2's.  There would be no shock if the superfast new A6 chip will power the iPad 3.  There will be a new front facing camera for HD facetime.  The iPad 3 could be the first non iPhone 4S Apple product to get Siri.  The new iPad three is said to come out in mid March

My President's Day Weekend

I didn't do much over the President's Day weekend.  I played my new PS Vita and had a 3 basketball games in 2 days.  I also took many power naps and watched TV.  At the end of my weekend, I played NBA 2K12.  I also played Total Miner Forge with friends.  I also watched Ray William Johnson.

Winter

I like to do many things in the winter.  I like to snowboard, drink egg nog, and I also like to open presents on Christmas morning.  My birthday is even in the winter, which is on January 13.  Usually when I think abut the winter, I think about Christmas break.  What I do then is I go sledding if it snows, or I go to a friends house if it is too cold to do anything.

OS X Mountain Lion
This new system is somewhat replacing the desktop for Macs.  Like the iPhone, there is a swipe down Notification Center.  They have also added Twitter and Game Center to the apps.  One of the coolest features is Airplay Mirroring.  This is made for an audience where you can stream whats on your iMac to your HDTV via Apple TV.  You can share videos with friends, share lessons with a classroom, or present in a conference.  There are probably many other things you can do with the Airplay Mirroring.  This system was designed for the iPad, but was re-invented for the iMac.

First Post

Hi!  My name is AJ and this is my first blog.  I like basketball and pop music unlike Patrick.  I hate alternative music, and I also hate Green Day and Linkin Park.  I have a brother, sister, father, and mother, and a dog.  I also like to watch South Park and 1000 ways to die.
